Serving Ludington and All Surrounding Areas
During your first appointment, you'll receive a thorough head and neck exam, oral cancer screening, gum and oral soft tissue examination, and a complete check for cavities, cracks, or other conditions.
If you have any specific dental concern, we'll be happy to address it! After your first visit, we'll perform all these examinations during your continued routine cleaning appointments.
Our digital radiograph system uses up to 90% less radiation than traditional dental radiographs. It also offers superior image quality and is more environmentally friendly than traditional radiographs. During your first visit, we'll take a complete set of dental radiographs to help diagnose cavities, periodontal disease, and any other infections or lesions. After your first visit, we'll take smaller sets of radiographs once per year during cleaning appointments as part of your routine checkup.
The condition of your gums and other structures surrounding your teeth will be diagnosed during your first visit. Most patients will receive a regular tooth cleaning service at this time. If you have periodontal disease, a series of "deep cleaning" appointments may be required. This will all be explained thoroughly during your examination. For additional information about causes, types, warning signs, and treatments for periodontal disease, please check out the American Academy of Periodontology website.
A professional fluoride varnish application is recommended for children at least once per year during a routine cleaning appointment.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that all children receive their initial dental examination by the time they are 1 year old. Children of all ages are welcome at Burgardt Family Dentistry, PC and parents may accompany their child in the treatment room if they wish.
